our story
Sugar Shack was founded in 2022 with the hopes of bringing homemade treats to a small town in south eastern New Mexico. What started off with a young high schooler selling cookies to her family and friends soon became one of the towns most beloved local businesses. Delivering freshly baked cookies to homes across Carlsbad, NM was the small start to a company full of love and lots of sugar, still giving customers the taste of home through our sweets made from the heart.

Sophia Dunagan is a college student at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. She loves film photography, being on the lake, hanging out with friends, worshipping at church, playing games with her family, dr pepper, and of course, baking! She founded Sugar Shack hoping people find a comfort company with products that taste like home and continues to bake for those who love Sugar Shack as much as she does.

The mission of Sugar Shack is to give customers the feeling of home through our handcrafted treats. We want to make cookies that give the consistent feeling of comfort no matter what seasons of life our customers find themselves in. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” We are created to give everything we do and are back to Christ. Whether you are worshipping in a congregation, working diligently to provide for others, putting time and effort into a project for school, smiling at strangers, or feeding the temple you were given, everything can be an act of worship… even eating cookies! Sugar Shack not only seeks to serve those in the community, but also create opportunities for the gospel to be shared with all who encounter our business.
